These hand-made live edge benches are wonderful pieces of art that will add character to any home. Made from a solid slab of walnut on steel flat bar legs, and finished with Tung oil and beeswax. These live-edge benches can stand as an individual component that makes a truly unique and practical piece of home decor from rustic to modern design.

 The slabs are at least 2 inches thick and are cut at the full width of the tree, incorporating both the heartwood and the lighter sapwood for a beautiful color combination.

 The bark is removed from the edges but the natural form is preserved making each bench a one-of-a-kind creation.

 Most slabs show some "checking" or cracks which occur as the wood dries. These cracks can be stabilized with "dovetail keys" which can be incorporated as functional design elements. This technique was made popular by George Nakashima whose live-edge furniture featuring keys can be founded in museums and private collections.
